North Macedonia Participates in This Year's EU Code Week

Skopje, September 4th, 2019

Since last year, the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, in cooperation with Foundation Metamorphosis, has been actively supporting EU Code Week (EU Code Week 2019) organized each year in October at various locations in several countries in Europe and beyond.

This year as well, North Macedonia will be an active participant in EU Code Week, which is to be held from 5th to 20th October. EU Code Week is an initiative supported by the European Commission that has been launched in 2013 and aims to enhance digital skills across Europe.

A total of 25 089 events with over 1 million participants have been organized in 52 countries across the world as part of EU Code Week 2018.

Last year, over 130 Macedonian schools with more than 5 000 participants have joined this idea. This increased the interest in students and in teaching staff to develop digital skills.

"We continue this successful story this year as well. I encourage all teachers working on development of digital skills to join this European initiative. By registering an event in your school, you contribute to raising awareness in youth to develop digital skills, as an important strategic goal with a view to motivate youth to stay in the country and to secure dignified life thereof. North Macedonia is already part of Digital Europe", stressed Minister Manchevski.

Any teacher from primary and secondary schools in North Macedonia can be part of EU Code Week, by registering 1 lesson (as extracurricular activity or as curricular activity) that would be held within EU Code Week.
